A shuttle rotomolding machine is a type of equipment used in the rotational molding process. Rotational molding, also known as rotomolding, is a manufacturing technique used to produce hollow plastic products.
A shuttle rotomolding machine consists of a large oven, a mold, and a shuttle system. The oven is heated to melt the plastic material, typically a powdered resin, inside the mold. The mold is often made of aluminum or steel and is designed to create the desired shape of the final product.
The shuttle system in a shuttle rotomolding machine allows for the movement of the mold between different stations. It typically operates on a horizontal axis, enabling the mold to shuttle back and forth between the oven and the cooling station.
The process of shuttle rotomolding involves the following steps:
1.Loading: The powdered plastic material is loaded into the mold, which is then closed and sealed.
2.Heating: The mold is transferred into the heated oven, where it rotates slowly on its axis. The heat causes the plastic to melt and evenly coat the inner surfaces of the mold.
3.Cooling: After a predetermined heating time, the mold is shuttled out of the oven and into the cooling station. Cold air or water is circulated around the mold to solidify the plastic and cool it down.
4.Unloading: Once the plastic has cooled and solidified, the mold is opened, and the finished product is removed. The shuttle system then returns the empty mold back to the loading station to start the process again.
